Description
Unreinforced Masonry Buildings with flexible floor system - 2 storeys
Euro-Mediterranean Regions (Italy, Slovenia in particular)
Sample Data.Buildings: Masonry buildings, isolated, with predominant out-of-plane collapse of walls and masonry buildings in aggregate (2D prototype buildings designed with different in-plane stiffness and strength characteristics i.e. 2D equivalent frames with different yielding strength, representing row of buildings in a given building aggregate) with out-of-plane failure of faced walls. The out-of-plane strength of faced walls obtained experimentally is adopted for fragility functions derivation. $Paragraph$Seismic Hazard: 10 natural accelerograms from USA.$Paragraph$Uncertainties in lateral stiffness, strength, and damage limit states are expressed by using controlled Monte Carlo simulations. On the other hand, large number of randomly generated linear displacement response spectra are used for the derivation of fragility functions. It is observed that despite the differences in vulnerability of an out-of-plane loaded wall being in low rise, mid rise buildings and/or aggregates, the displacement-based fragility functions fairly remains the same as these functions are drift/deformation and displacement-based sensitive rather than strength and structural material properties Thus s ingle fragility function is generated for out-of-plane assessment of faced walls of isolated buildings and within building aggregate. Nevertheless, a given out-of-plane wall will be subjected to different seismic demand in different structural schemes i.e. low-rise/mid-rise buildings and/or building aggregates, thus result in different consequences for a given earthquake using similar fragility functions. $Paragraph$The considered building stock represents the Euro-Mediterranean buildings in general and Italian and Slovenian in particular.
